It’s that time again: time for the end of Soup & Bread for the year, but also TIME FOR PIE.
On Wednesday, March 30, we host the final Soup & Bread of 2016, in concert with our now-traditional end-of-season bake sale. Proceeds from the sale of all pies, cookies, cakes, lemon bars, fudge, and rum balls go to benefit Soup & Bread. So c’mon out and get some sweetness in your life, eh?
In our crock pots this week we have soups from:
Cleetus Friedman Erin Drain John McKevitt? Bonnie Tawse Molly O’Sullivan Local Foods and Mary Black, with cooks from the Marjorie Kovler Center for the Survivors of Torture
The wonderful cooking program at the Kovler Center — a bimonthly community meal that brings survivors of torture from around the world together to cook and eat food from an array of cultures and cuisines — is our beneficiary this week. You can read all about Kovler and its cooking program in chapter one of the Soup & Bread cookbook, which we’ll have for sale on site, along with our adorable new Soup & Bread bowls. This is your *last chance* to purchase one of these bowls (at the low low price of $10) for the foreseeable future. Get them while you can!
As ever our bread is donated by our friends at Publican Quality Bread, and our DJ this week is the stalwart Stan Wood. It all happens at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia, from 5:30-8 pm. Donations are pay what you can, and children are welcome.
We hope to see you at the Hideout on the 30th!
