57Susan Walsh September 7, 2011 at 9:15 am @desperate!!! You got played. All he wanted was sex, and once he got it he lost interest. Move on, don’t give him another thought – he does not care about you. Don’t delude yourself that any of this was meaningful to him. Don’t speak to him, text him, see him. Nothing. Complete silence. And then find someone who is willing to be your boyfriend before having sex.

58LeslieL September 7, 2011 at 12:35 pm Hi Susan! Yes, it’s me again with yet another problem that I hope you can give me insight on.

I’ve recently been very keen on the online dating scene and have been going on casual dates throughout this past summer. Most were friendly and decent but there was no real spark or connection, so nothing took off. Not until I met Alex (not his real name).

I initially was the first one to message him because I though he was very attractive. He’s smart, educated and seems like everything that I always wanted in a guy on paper. He recently moved to a city two hours away from me for work but is actually from another province (I live in Canada) across the country.

Over the course of two weeks or so we sent messages back and forth via the dating site, he eventually added me on Facebook and we got each others numbers and started texting. There was always this sexual air to our texts, we didn’t neccessarily sext but almost. I felt it kept things fun and exciting but it was nothing raunchy or over the top. We made plans to finally meet, so I drove up on a Sunday and had the most amazing date. It lasted for pretty much the whole day, from midday to around 10 pm, he pretty much set aside the whole day to be with me. We had good conversation, great chemistry, I picked up on his body language with me and we greeted with a hug and ended the date with a hug. I thought it was an awesome first date and felt like nothing was rushed, it just felt… comfortable.

During the date, he mentioned once or twice about meeting up again to hang out whenever I’m in town again. I didn’t give it much thought but afterwards I realized maybe it is a sign he’s feeling pretty good about things as well?

Fast forward a month later, and we’re still texting back and forth. He says he’s been very busy with work and moving into a new apartment and when I mentioned for him to come down to my hometown for dinner and a movie he was all for it, but said I’d have to wait until everything was settled with the move. I’ve also been busy with working two jobs and starting school again so the wait was perfectly ok with me. The thing is we’ve only been texting, sometimes not every other day, the longest I didn’t hear from him was for a whole week.
